I’m the 4th owner of this very cool 1966 Ford Mustang 2+2 Fastback. I purchased her in 1992 from a guy whose wife hated driving it. She said the clutch was too hard to use. His son, on the other hand, loved the car and didn’t want his dad to sell it. They had plans on making it into a “Mud Racer”. They wanted to cut out the rear wheel wells so they could put bigger tires on it. Thank goodness I found it when I did. I drove the car until 1999 and that’s when my brother-in-law and I started what turned out to be a five-year restoration. The rust on this car was, well, let’s put it this way, what part of the car was not rusted? I kept the look of the car the same. It’s all Ford. I updated the front breaks to disc, changed the engine from a 289 two barrel with a 3 speed transmission to a 302 with a 4100 4 barrel with a “T-5 transmission” and a 8 inch traction-lock rear end. I plan on updating the front end with rack and pinion steering, update the rear drums to disc and 3-point seat belts front and back. It’s an awesome car, I love driving it. This one is a keeper.
